Cory had looked at 9 different colleges for football. Cory was actively recruited by 7 college coaches. John Snell, 7th year heacd coach at Baldwin-Wallace College called Cory every week for five months. Cory will attend Baldwin-Wallace as a punter/kicker and will be replacing 3 time division III All American punter Kevin Soflkianos. Soflkianos was also the national punting champion twice during his career at Baldwin-Wallace for division III and has had try outs with the Jets and Browns this spring. Cory also plans on playing for the Baldwin-Wallace College Yellow Jackets baseball team as a pitcher and outfielder. Cory had a very difficult choice to make from the 7 colleges All of the schools offered many good opportunities.. Cory picked Baldwin-Wallace based upon their degree offerings and interships opportunities . Cory is seen here with his father Dave and mother Janet Fosnight. |

With Drews assistance on the line, the running backs were able to accomplish 2,700 yards in rushing; grading out at 94%. As a defensive tackle Drew is accredited with two solo takcles, five assisted tackles, one sack, and a tackle for a loss of 13 yards. With an extensive list of achievements while attending Ravenna High School, Drew looks to continue his legacy at Walsh University when he agreed to go to Walsh University. During his time at Ravenna Drew is a three year letterman, 2006 Second team Portage Trail Conference Offensive Lineman, Northeast inland all district Honorable mention, 2007 Team Captain, 2007 First team Portage Trail Conference Offensive Lineman, 2007 Hog of the year team award (Best Offensive Lineman), 2007 Portage Trail Conference League Champions, 2007 Division III Playoff Team, 2007 Northeast Inland all district, and Second Team Offensive Lineman. He has always been passionate about football and has committed his dedication and passion for the sport to Walsh University. Besides football, Drew participates in the high school band, the schools concert band and in a garge band with his friends. Drews parents (as seen in the photos; Kristen Trammel and Tim Trammel) are extremely proud of Drew not only for his accomplishments in school and the football field, but as a son who cares about his family and friends. Those of us that remain behind for the 2009 season will greatly miss Drew and wish to join his family and friends in wishing him the best as he begins his colligant life. |

Ravenna football standout Jonathan Davis made his commitment to Bowling Green official on Wednesday when he announced he would be continuing his football and academic careers for the Falcons. Davis (5-foot-11, 170 pounds) helped lead the Ravens to a Portage Trail Conference Metro Division championship in 2007. He was named a First Team All-Metro Division performer, and Ravenna's team offensive MVP after a season where he established himself as one of the most versatile players in Northeast Ohio. Bowling Green head coach Gregg Brandon said his team recruited Davis as a defensive back, but ultimately, is very excited about Davis' overall potential. "Jonathan is a player that has incredible versatility on the football field," Brandon said. "We recruited him as a DB and that is where he will start (within our program), but I have to say, I liked what I saw when he had the football in his hands offensively during high school." For the Ravens' this past Fall, Davis split time a variety of positions on offense. His primary spot was in the backfield where he rushed for nearly 1,000 yards on only 85 carries (9.8 yards per carry average) and scored 12 touchdowns -- all while sharing the rushing load with Blayre Davis. Additionally, Davis also played quarterback and wide receiver at times for Ravenna. According to Brandon, it was more than Davis' talent on the field that caught the eye of his program. "Aside from his physical abilities, Jonathan is just a quality kid all the way around," Brandon said. "His mom did an incredible job raising him, because he is extremely polite. He is the high character type of person we are proud to have added to our program." Of Bowling Green's 18 signees on Wednesday, Davis is one of 12 that came from an Ohio high school. "I've got nothing but great things to say about Jonathan Davis," Ravenna head football coach Jim Lunardi said. He's a class act, and we're very proud to send him off to Bowling Green. "This will make all the difference in his life, and that's what we're in education for," Lunardi said. "He'll be a totally different person by having this scholarship and it affects everyone. It affects him, his family, the program, and he's better off for it." Original article can be found at: http://www.recordpub.com/news/article/3270982 |
